These pictures are of an Eucalyptus tree Eucalyptus gunni the Cider Gum. It is the only Eucalyptus that tolerates the scottish climate. Last year it almost succumbed to the frost in Dec/January, developing splits in the bark that would let in infection and kill the vascular tissue. It struggled through the summer with limited foliage. Again this winter the frost did more damage and apart form the base the tree is effectively dead.
